Holocaust survivor and Spiritual Songbird, Cantor Estherleon
Schwartz, began her sacred journey as a child when her father pleaded with God
to Save my daughter and she will always
serve you, as he lobbed her over a barbwire fence and into the arms of a Swiss
soldier.
Through harrowing odds, Cantor Estherleon and her parents survived
the streets of Europe, eventually immigrating to the shores of New York in the
United States. It was in the districts
of the Big City where the family began
working their way out of poverty and eventually moving to California.
Through the peaks and valleys of life which cumulated in a
rags-to-riches-to-God adventure, Cantor Estherleon found her voice, forged the
way for women to become cantors in Los Angeles and created the non-profit, Beth
Shirah, (House of Song), in the
process.
Today, this peace activist is also an emissary of goodwill
and a voice for the hungry, striving to unite faiths and cultures of all kinds
in order to achieve a deeper understanding of, and more compassion for, all
mankind.
In her spare time, Cantor Estherleon is a spoken word
artist, singer and author. Her poetic
and autobiographical story, Tears of
Stone and my deal with God, takes readers on a unique and soulful journey starting
with the memories as a child of the Holocaust to where she is today.
